Elections can have a profound effect on employment law. Almost immediately after election to his second term, the President seized control of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Guided by its new board, the EEOC embarked on a radically different path of civil rights enforcement, echoing the President's many executive orders. The Commission that had long supported minority opportunity and integration was replaced with an agency, allegiant to the new agenda of the executive branch, interested solely in enforcement of workplace class neutrality against acts of intentional discrimination. Employers need to closely monitor EEOC actions and heed its new approach.
