This study examines which CEO leadership behaviors university students most value as future employees. Drawing on trait, behavioral, follower-centered, and competency-based leadership research, it uses a MaxDiff conjoint design to assess follower perspectives on leadership attributes. A total of 354 students at a large open-admission regional university evaluated 21 CEO attributes from the Lead Now model across 13 forced-choice tasks. Hierarchical Bayes estimation generated rescaled importance scores and preference shares. Results showed that all attributes were important, but the highest valued involved purpose-driven motivation, ethics and fairness, supportive team environments, and follow-through on actions and promises.
